Tips for Exams

For any student, the worst time of the year is when your exams are on. Exams are undeniably the last thing on anybody’s bucket list, but passing with good marks, is amongst the top few in the same bucket list. So what do you do when that unfortunate time of the semester comes? Here are some things everyone should do.

1) Find out details of the exam, the type of questions, weightage in your eventual score, etc.

2) In many cases, your teachers may give you extra notes and handouts. Get hold of these and your class notes and compile them neatly. Basically, you want to have all your resources in one places.

3) Past exam Papers are an absolute essential. They help you understand many important things such as the thinking process of the person making the question papers, what is more relevant, what to spend more time on. Practicing on these papers is a great technique.

4) Keep reviewing your notes. Another good tactic is to test yourself. Similar to public speaking, many people find it more helpful to revise while in front of a mirror.

5) Keeping calm at all times is important. Most people discuss study strategies and the answers to questions both before and after the exams. This can be detrimental and stress you out.

6) While answering your questions, make sure you cover all the essential points. Giving examples and step by step examples is a key element to scoring well anywhere.

7) Lastly, review what you’ve written. Revising is underrated, and it is amazing how many things you may end up correcting yourself on when you revise.
