Industrial Visit to Shiwalik Waste Management Ltd, Nalagarh
School of Sciences (SOS), Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technology (BUEST) organized an industrial visit for the students of M.Sc Chemistry 4th sem on March2, 2024 at Shivalik Solid Waste Management limited, Majra, Nalagarh (HP). Industrial visits offer students practical insights into real-world applications of their academic knowledge, and visiting a facility like Shivalik Solid Waste Management Limited can provide them with valuable exposure to industrial processes related to their field of study.
The R&D Executive and Chief Civil Engineer of Industry Personnel interacted with students and provide the detailed discussion/knowledge on treatment, storage & disposal facility for hazardous waste-material and Environmental Consultancy. Students also visited the Environmental monitoring & laboratory analytical services, which is NABL & MOEF & CC Accredited Laboratory. Students were also acquainted with E-WASTE RECYCLING procedure which is authorized from HPSPCB, zero liquid discharge (zld) consultancy, empty used drums, multiple effect evaporator etc.
During the visit, students likely had the chance to observe various aspects of solid waste management, including collection, sorting, treatment, and disposal methods. They also learnt about the chemical processes involved in waste treatment and the environmental implications of different waste management practices. Such visits not only enhance students’ understanding of theoretical concepts but also give them a glimpse into potential career paths and the practical challenges faced by industries in managing waste effectively. It’s commendable that BUEST organizes such industrial visits, as they play a crucial role in enriching the educational experience of students and preparing them for future professional endeavors.
