Baddi University of Emerging Sciences and Technology, Baddi organizes sports event competition between various universities named as “LAKSHYA” every year with the aim to uplift mind, body and soul of the students. It is being organized from 21st April 2023 to 23rd April 2023 this year.
On the first day of event, the program was formally inaugurated by the Lamp Lighting at the Basket ball Court of the University by Dr J.K. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of the University and Chief Guest of today’s event along with other dignitaries. The other dignitaries included Guest of Honor, Prof. Dr T R Bhardwaj, Advisor to Chancellor, Emeritus Scientist, Prof Dr Tejvir Singh, Prof. Dr V K Kapoor, Dr Khushmeet Kumar, Registrar, BUEST, Mr Ishan Thakur, Sports Incharge, Ms. Sushma Singh, Student Welfare Officer were among the other eminent guests in the event along with Deans and HoDs of various departments of the University. Felicitation of the Chief guest and other dignitaries took place by presenting the floral bouquets. The opening speech given by Honorable Vice chancellor mentioned the importance of sports in one’s daily life and the positive aspects of sports. He also motivated the students by telling one should play but winning is not the major thing but the zeal of sportsmanship is important.
The Universities like Chitkara University Baddi, Chitkara University Rajpura, Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjheri, Shoolini University, Solan, Maharaja Agrasen University, Baddi and Abhilashi University, Mandi participated in the sports. The Sponsors of LAKSHYA 2023 included ACC Cement, MPN Muscle Pump Nutrition, Singh Pizza Baddi, TOHFA Showroom Baddi.
The various games played in the sports event were cricket, football, volleyball, basketball and table tennis under boys and girls category. Different matches were conducted between the visiting teams and host university on the first day while semi final matches were conducted on the second day of the event. On the third and last day of the event, finals were played between the qualifying teams.
Under boy’s category, CGC, Jhanjheri won the final match of Basketball against Shoolini University, Solan while under Girls category, BUEST, Baddi was the winner team against Maharaja Agrasen University, Baddi.
In the finals of Volleyball, matches were played between the teams of BUEST, Baddi and Maharaja Agrasen University, Baddi under both boy’s and girl’s categories. Maharaja Agrasen University, Baddi Boy’s team and BUEST, Baddi Girl’s team won their respective matches.
Chitkara University, Baddi won the final match of Football played against the team of CGC, Jhanjheri. Chitkara University, Rajpura won the Cricket finals in a close match against BUEST, Baddi. Ritik Upadhyay from Chitkara University, Rajpura was the highest run scorer of the tournament while the runner up was Mr. Gaurav Sharma from BUEST, Baddi. Under Table tennis, BUEST, Baddi was the winning team against Maharaja Agrasen University, Baddi.
On the last day, after obtaining the winners from various teams, valedictory function was conducted where Dr. J.K. Sharma, worthy Vice-Chancellor of BUEST, and Dr Khusmeet Kumar , Registrar of BUEST were welcomed as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour of the day, respectively. After taking the permission from worthy Vice-Chancellor, Dr J. K. Sharma, Mr Ishan Thakur, briefed the gathering about the 3 day sports event.
Gold and silver medals were presented by Dr J K Sharma and Dr Khushmeet Kumar to the winner teams and the runner up teams, respectively under the different sport events. The winning teams under different categories were also given the winning trophies along with the cash prize and the protein packets were also distributed by sponsorer, MPN Muscle Pump Nutrition. The match referees and match officials were also felicited for their hard efforts to efficiently manage the games. Dr J. K. Sharma boosted the students for their win and motivated them to continue their participation in future too, irrespective of the thought of victory or loss. In the last, Ms Sushma Singh thanked everyone for their non tiring efforts to make this event successful. The stage was efficiently managed by Mr Nitin Sharma.
