Career In Merchant Navy

The merchant navy recruits graduates as officer trainees through various marine and nautical institutes after the completion of the basic course for on-the-deck training. The complete process is even more accelerated if a person has a degree in mechanical engineering.
The prospects are available in catering, business, entertainment, etc for other graduates as well who do not wish to work in the technical segment. Alternatively, one can also choose to directly do an honors’ degree in maritime engineering or nautical science to be eligible for officer training in merchant navy.
On shore, officers are employed at management, administration and other operational roles throughout the ports and at sea they are employed in engineering or navigational capacities. Generally, the employers include shipping companies, maritime training and recruitment institutes, maritime regulating authorities, government bodies, marine insurance companies etc.
