Career in Defense – Indian Army
A career in defence in India is considered to be one of the most rewarding and respectful government jobs in India. Not only does a person get lifelong perks of being in the job but there is also huge scope and prospect for personal as well as professional development along the way.
To be able to get into the Army, one has to go through a number of tests and interviews specifically designed for the purpose. There can be three categories of entry into the forces; the SSB entry, the CDS entry and a technical entry. Any person who has passed their basic graduation is eligible to sit in the tests for CDS and technical entry. The SSB entry is a direct entry for students who have passed 12th and plan to join the army directly.
Once one clears the tests, he/she is sent for training to one of the various academies situated all across the nation for a period ranging from 2-3 yrs to finally be able to join the armed forces once they pass out from there. One may get commissioned as a short service commission for a period of 5 yrs or choose to opt for a permanent service commission till the age of retirement. Both irrespective of their timeline have their own perks and privileges which are not offered in any other governmental job.
