Dussehra celebration was organised by the Alumni Association BUEST on 21st October, 2023. The formal inauguration of the Dussehra celebration was held at 5:00 PM in LH-129 SOS Department. The Alumni Association team and some children were part of the ceremony. The room was decorated with full of lights, beautiful display of art on the greenboard, decorated with flowers and balloons.

Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is a major Hindu festival celebrated in India and other parts of South Asia. This festival marks the victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana, as recounted in the ancient Indian epic, the Ramayana. Dussehra is celebrated with various cultural and religious events, including the burning of effigies of Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. It also marks the end of Navaratri, a nine-night festival dedicated to the worship of the goddess Durga. The significance of Dussehra varies across regions, with people also using it to commemorate other events and legends.

The Event was designed with a unique focus on inclusivity and spreading joy among underprivileged children, as Alumni Association believes in spreading happiness. The children live in the back side of the university campus. We gathered them in the university campus to celebrate Dussehra with them. They were very happy. We believe children are the strength and pillars of a nation or even a house. So, it is necessary to enjoy and celebrate the festival with them. Bring a smile on their face by sharing the tradition of gifts giving with them. They also performed a small act of how Lord Ram killed the demon king Ravan and marked the victory of good over evil.

The Dussehra celebration concluded with a mesmerizing display of hot air balloons, emphasizing the importance of eco-friendly practices during festivals. The symbolic release of the hot air balloons represented the release of negativity and the triumph of good over evil, aligning with the traditional significance of Dussehra. The alumni association’s commitment to promoting sustainable practices set an inspiring example for attendees and highlighted the importance of preserving the environment for future generations.

Mr. Panshul Jamwal, Asst. Director Alumni Affair and Ms. Anandita, Sr. executive Alumni Affair felicitated the children by giving them gifts as a token of love at the end of the celebration.
